The Wait For Doom Eternal Is Nearly Over

It’s safe to say that Doom Eternal is hands down one of the most anticipated games in recent years. I’d even go so far as to say that it could be game of the decade based off of this trailer alone…

It looks pretty great, doesn’t it? My first real experience of Doom was the GBA port back at the start of the noughties, and ever since, I’ve been hooked. With that, I can very much say that the countdown for me is nail biting. In fact, it feels as though I’ve been waiting for an eternity (heh) for this game.

A dynamic that I’m looking forward to is the way you alter what pickups you can get in the game. The melee kills in Doom 2016 were brilliant, but this mix up makes it feel new and fresh. I’m also curious how the grapple hook will add a new dimension to the game as well. It’s going to be an agonising wait to try it out!

The release date is currently set on PC, Xbox One and PS4 for the 20th March 2020. I was a bit gutted that it didn’t get released last year, but at the same time, I’m glad iD Software decided to take the extra time to tweak the game until they’re happy with it.

As for the Nintendo Switch version, there’s still no word on it’s release. iD did say last month that they’re wanting to smooth everything out between themselves and Panic Button to make sure the game runs how they want it to. Again, this is refreshing, and it’s just a shame that other developers don’t follow them say suit as iD and Panic Button.

So far, there doesn’t seem to be any system requirements available for the game, although hopefully this will be released soon.

A brilliant Pre-Order bonus awaits…

As a nice addition, if you pre-order the game you’ll also get Doom 64 as well, for free. Doom 64 was a great game, and despite only playing it after the glory days of the N64, it’s one of my favourite shooters of all time.

Doom Eternal is available for pre-order just now on Steam, as well as buying if for Steam through Humble Bundle. Effectively, buying it through Humble Bundle will raise money for charity. What better way to do so than buy raising hell on some of the most fearsome enemies in gaming? The game is also available to purchase on Amazon.
